Awny Mikhaeel

Egypt Country Director

Serving GFW as Country Director of Egypt, Awny Mikhaeel brings 35 years of experience in community development, micro-finance, and women’s financial, legal, and social empowerment. With over 12 years at CARE International, Mr Mikhaeel is responsible for establishing over 1000 village savings and loan associations across Egypt. He has also been responsible for collaborating on capacity building and institutional development across MENA and Sub-Saharan Africa. Mr. Mikhaeel has developed and managed projects for the Ford Foundation, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, among many others. Mr. Mikhaeel holds two bachelor's degrees from Minya University.
