mariaMaria Rene | Bolivia Field Manager

Maria Rene joined the Global Fund for Widows in the winter of 2011 as the field manager of Bolivian operations.  Maria Rene is the director of the Santa Cruz based Amor y Esperanza.  Born in Bolivia, Maria Rene completed her education in hospitality and hotel management in Mexico City. After working for nine years as a public relations officer in the Viru-Viru airport in Bolivia, Maria Rene relocated to the United States to pursue other career options. Compelled to return to Bolivia, Maria Rene felt a strong compulsion to join the non-profit world, where she found her most fulfilling working with children, single mothers, and widows. As a female head of household and daughter of a widow herself, Maria Rene is acutely aware of and empathetic to the plight of widows, which has been a guiding force in her impassioned execution of our programs in the field.
